Magna-ELC Tension Control System for the Wire Industry - February 2002
Following extensive development and six months of intensive testing, Magnatech International, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of the Magna-ELC Tension Control System for your wire tensioning requirements. This innovative system combines magnetic particle braking systems in combination with individual load cells to provide exact and accurate tension control. This closed loop system provides exact tension measurement with continuous analog feedback to insure that your tension requirements are controlled to the ultimate tolerances capable with today's advanced technology. A major advantage of the Magna-ELC Tension Control System is its ability to insure consistent, repeatable results.

Working extensively with Merobel of Ferrieres, France, Magnatech engineers developed this innovative tension control system and have found direct application in the control of wire, metal strip and thermoplastic tape applications. The other tension control systems offered to the market employ potentiometers and dancer arms to approximate or calculate tension. The Magna-ELC Tension Control System reads precise tension with load cells to provide exact tension and control information. Additional system benefits are low maintenance costs, reliable and consistent performance results, along with the optional ability for data capture and control.

This innovative wire supply spool tension control system combines magnetic particle braking systems in combination with individual load cells to provide exact and accurate tension control of your bobbin winding applications. This closed loop system provides exact tension measurement with continuous analog feedback to insure that your bobbin catenaries are controlled to the ultimate tolerances capable with today’s advanced technology. No other bobbin winding system on the market today, electrical or mechanical, offers you this closed-loop capability. Other bobbin winding systems use potentiometers and dancer arms to approximate or calculate tension and do not provide exact tension feedback. A major advantage of the Magna-ELC Tension Control System is its ability to insure consistent, repeatable results.

Magnatech engineers worked closely with Merobel of Ferrieres, France, to develop this innovative tension control system. This system allows operators to establish exact tension settings for your bobbin winding requirements by spindle. This system combines ease of operation with very consistent and repeatable results. An optional feature provides for data capture and statistical process control (SPC) capabilities. These electrical systems are significantly cleaner than mechanical braking systems and have significantly reduced maintenance time and cost.
